UPEBBI becomes a Partner of #PEC24!

A Few Words About the Partner:

The Union of Producers and Employers of the Biogas and Biomethane Industry (UPEBBI) was established in 2012. It is an employer association operating under the Employers’ Organizations Act, benefiting from all the privileges associated with this special status. UPEBBI brings together companies primarily involved in operating, designing, constructing, and servicing biogas and biomethane plants, as well as entities from the business environment (e.g., those dealing with energy trading, EU subsidies, or insurance for installations).

The acronym UPEBBI (from the English name: Union of Producers and Employers of Biogas and Biomethane Industry) stands for TOGETHER FOR BIOGAS. UPEBBI strives to create better conditions for the agricultural, sewage, and waste biogas and biomethane industry. Its goal is to work together for the development of the biogas and biomethane sector in Poland, Europe, and globally (as a member of the European Biogas Association, World Biogas Association, and Biomethane Industrial Partnership). Through the Erasmus+ EU program, UPEBBI engages in international collaboration with organizations from the Czech Republic and Latvia in the project “Training for European Biogas Sector Workforce.”

The primary objective of UPEBBI is to provide comprehensive support and legal protection to its members and to shape a unified position on all matters related to their business activities. UPEBBI is the largest industry organization coordinating the Agreement for Biogas and Biomethane, which consists of six entities representing the majority of the sector. It collaborates regularly with lawyers, experts, scientists, officials, and industry practitioners to optimize operational effectiveness.

UPEBBI partners with scientific and research institutions (universities, academies, and national research institutes) to develop innovative technological solutions that contribute to the dynamic growth of the industry in Poland and globally. Together with the University of Life Sciences in Lublin and the Institute of Agricultural and Food Biotechnology, as well as Agricultural Education Centers, UPEBBI is establishing Sectoral Skills Centers for bioenergy (in Lublin and Pomerania) dedicated to the education of students, teachers, and adults.

UPEBBI conducts educational and promotional activities to increase public awareness about the potential of biogas as a renewable energy source and biomethane as a gas fuel. This includes organizing workshops across the country (for potential investors, local government employees, and agricultural school students) on behalf of the National Agricultural Support Center and training employees of the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Białystok.

UPEBBI has frequently and successfully intervened in the creation of laws and regulations concerning the biogas sector. It maintains active working relationships with the Ministry of Climate and Environment (departments of renewable energy and waste management), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (rural energy transformation division), as well as the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and the Institute of Environmental Protection. UPEBBI regularly participates in legislative and consultative work at the Sejm and Senate, attending committee meetings and speaking with particularly engaged MPs and Senators.

The organization is involved in public consultations and provides information on biogas and biomethane to all interested parties. UPEBBI promotes biogas technology through traditional and social media and participates in various events, conferences, and fairs related to renewable energy (e.g., the Economic Forum in Karpacz, European Economic Congress in Katowice, EcoForum in Supraśl and Tykocin, EuroPower and OZEPower in Warsaw, and the Central Agricultural Fair at Warsaw Ptak Expo).

UPEBBI also organizes Green Gas Poland [https://greengaspoland.pl/] – an annual international conference for the biogas and biomethane industry, which over five editions has attracted hundreds of participants: representatives of private companies and state-owned enterprises, government agencies, media, scientists, investors, farmers, and local authorities.
