The Poznań Institute

The Poznań Institute is a rapidly growing think tank dealing with urban, local government, social and international affairs.

Our mission is to support the development of civil society and strengthen grassroots social activism among citizens. We want to achieve this by sharing our knowledge and experience. Our first place of activity is Poznań, but our perspective extends beyond the borders of the city and even the country.

The areas around which the Poznań Institute focuses its activities are the creation of a space for discussion on urban policy issues in Poznań, addressing international issues at the regional level and the restoration of historical memory.

Institute projects

The birth of the new Poznań

A project to analyse in depth the life of the city and prepare solutions to improve it. For this work, we invited 10 experts from various fields to help us carry out the diagnosis and also to develop ideas for Poznań. Our project was carried out with the full involvement of the people of Poznań – during project activities we organised 9 thematic debates, accompanied by the publication of a report.

The entire project culminated in the publication of a cross-cutting main report in which we discussed all spaces of life in Poznań. All diagnoses, analyses, ideas and concepts were summarised in the final debate.

POZnań first to fly: 100 years of civil aviation in Poland

The most important part of the project “Poznań first to fly: 100 years of civil aviation in Poland’ was to carry out educational and cultural activities related to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first commercial passenger flight on Polish soil. The project was carried out in cooperation between the Institute and the local community and Poznań-Ławica Airport, and with the financial support of nationwide institutions. This was the first project of its kind carried out by the Institute, and its unique form attracted the attention of residents and local social circles and the media.

The Regional Centre for International Debate in Poznań

Receiving a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the project “Regional Centre of International Debate in Poznań2022-2024″ is, once again, a major achievement.

The aim of the network of the Regional Centre for the Regional Centre for International Debate network is to familiarise citizens with Polish foreign policy and to strengthen channels of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local government units, non-governmental organisations, educational and scientific institutions and other entities whose activities involve international cooperation in the broadest sense.

Thanks to the implementation of numerous projects, we have managed to establish cooperation with numerous entities: public administration institutions (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Social Policy), non-governmental organisations (Project Poznań, Altum Foundation), local government institutions (Marshal’s Office of the Voivodeship, Poznań City Hall), private and public entities (MPK Poznań, Henryk Wieniawski Poznań Airport) and the media (TVP Poznań, Głos Wielkopolski, Eska Poznań).
