How to Ensure Energy Security in Central and Eastern Europe? [EN]

Day II - Friday, 15 November 2024 | 11:30-13:00
Panel G
G2

Panel partners: Regionalny Ośrodek Debaty Międzynarodowej | Central and Eastern European Council

For decades, dependence on energy imports from Russia has posed a significant security challenge to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Efforts to change this situation have driven regional cooperation, with the Three Seas Initiative serving as a prime example. The diversification of energy sources and the construction of alternative supply routes enabled the region to withstand the crisis triggered by the outbreak of full-scale war in Ukraine. However, energy security remains one of the region’s most pressing concerns. A crucial factor in this context is the ongoing energy transition in Europe, driven at a rapid pace by the European Union. For countries like Poland, nuclear energy and emerging advanced solutions offer a promising direction for development. During the panel, participants will have the opportunity to discuss the key challenges facing regional energy security and the energy transition.
